"At first what I was playing didn't seem dissonant or complex enough. I had all sorts of intellectual reservations. Finally I just started being myself and let my music reflect that. My approach to music is a bit like talking to a friend. If you say what's in your heart, it's usually very simple."

On Heartsounds, David said   "Every emotion we have resides in our hearts, even if so many of us have become well-practiced at ignoring or suppressing what we have inside ourselves.  This album, my first, was my initial attempt to give a musical voice to some of the emotions and feelings we have within us.   It is a search that I will pursue for as long as I am able to play."
