The First Annual Walk for Lolita was held on August 8th. The Sun Sentinel interviewed Ric O'Barry who took part even though "The Cove" opened the evening before. The Sun Sentinel has a wonderful video. Click here to watch it!
 

August 17 - MAALAEA - An award-winning documentary about captive marine mammals that perform at theme parks will be shown from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pacific Whale Foundation Center at the Harbor Shops at Maalaea. "Lolita: Slave to Entertainment" tells the story of a wild orca that was caught and featured at Miami Seaquarium. The documentary includes behind-the-scenes insights, footage of the wild orca pod from which Lolita was taken and interviews with industry insiders and marine biologists.

The screening is part of PWF's Making Waves monthly lecture series. Admission is free, and no reservations are necessary. For information, call 249-8811 ext. 1.
