May Avery - John Livesley
On the 24th of December, 1917 she,
a waterproof garment maker, married John Livesley, a warehouseman. At that time, she lived
at 69 Davies Street, Greengate and he lived at 52 Durham Street, Greengate. Both her
father, Joseph Avery and his father, John Livesley, were deceased at the time of their
marriage. Their marriage took place at St. Simon Church of England in Salford.
Their witnesses were Stanley Tumpston and Edith Stansfield and the marriage was performed
by Rev. J.W. Taylor, rector. |

My grandfather, John Livesley. Son of John Livesley and Emma Livesley (formerly Davies). Born on the 2nd of June, 1897 at 7 Robert Street, Greengate, Salford, England. His father was a packing case maker. His first marriage was to May Avery (see above). He lived as a widower until 1944 when on April 15th, at the age of 46, he married Mary Hodkin (age 37) at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Greengate, Salford, England. At the time of his second marriage, he was a railways coach repairer and still resided at 41 Davies Street. John Livesley died on the 15th of October, 1990 at Ladywell Hospital in Pendleton of cancer. At the time of his death, he and his wife resided at 121 Adelphi Court, Silk Street, Salford, England. He was survived by his wife, Mary, and his three children, May, Harold, and Margaret. He was also survived by six grandchildren: Carole May Martin and Joan Martin Terlato, Karen Hubbard and Martin Hubbard, Christine Livesley Baxter and Harold Livesley, Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Kailyn May Terlato. |
